IDP Hype Train Week 14: Denzel Ward, Chandler Jones and Snacks!

IDP Hype Train Week 14: Denzel Ward, Chandler Jones and Snacks!

Hopefully you’ve made it to this week in the playoffs, I know I have not had that much luck this year! Hopefully I can give you some advice, and help you make it to next week!!

Players to Watch:

DE Chandler Jones – Cardinals

Week 13 Opponent: Detroit Lions

The leaky Lions offensive line is going to get Stafford killed this season, if he hasn’t quit already. Jones has been a nice IDP starter this season, and with each week being sudden death you need your best foot forward.

DT Damon Harrison – Lions

Week 13 Opponent: Arizona Cardinals

I was wrong, since coming to Detroit, Harrison has upped his game and has brought the ability to get to the QB with him, getting 2.5 sacks from the tackle position since the trade. Against a shaky Cardinals team, look for Harrison to continue wreaking havoc on the offensive lines.

LB Leighton Vander Esch – Cowboys

Week 13 Opponent: Philadelphia Eagles

In his last game against Philly, he had 13 tackles, 1 TFL, 1 INT and a Pass Defense. I’m not saying that will happen again but outside of 3 games, he has been a near must-start and I’d expect him to step up in a big way in such a critical contest.

The Panthers look to be dead in the water, against Tampa last week Cam Newton gave them the game with 4 interceptions and 4 sacks. Cleveland is a team on the rise, and though Ward has been a weak play the last 4 weeks I expect him to get some good action, and in turn help your team this week. The only caveat is you’ll need to check the injury report, Ward’s in the concussion protocol.

***IF out, feel free to play Fuller or Amukamara from the Bears. Goff’s looking like he’s already eying the playoffs and maybe looking past the last few weeks of the year.

S Derwin James – Chargers

Week 13 Opponent: Cincinnati Bengals

As a rookie, James is one of the top safeties in the league, behind Jamal Adams. With Cinci being banged up, and playing a backup QB, as well as LA still fighting for their division, look for James to have another big week!

Players to Watch-out for:

DE Demarcus Lawrence – Cowboys

Week 13 Opponent: Philadelphia Eagles

Lawrence had a rough week against the Saints on Thanksgiving, only getting 1 tackle and 2 assists. Meanwhile, Wentz finally had a week where he wasn’t sacked at all, and he’s getting the ball out quicker. With the Eagles season on the line, expect the champs to bring their A game, which could be bad news for Lawrence and company.

DT Geno Atkins – Bengals

Week 13 Opponent: Los Angeles Chargers

Atkins has been unstartable since week 6, and even before then he had only had four solid IDP performances. This has not been his year, and now on the downside of 30, if you own him i’d be shopping him in the off-season.

LB TJ Watt – Steelers

Week 13 Opponent: Oakland Raiders

I love TJ Watt, it wouldn’t seem like it as he tends to land on my beware list but the dude’s got talent, he just can’t be trusted this year. He is a true boom or bust candidate, and he could go off this year but the big games he’s had have come against better teams, almost like he plays to the level of his competition, and this week’s competition is terrible.

CB Eli Apple – Saints

Week 13 Opponent: Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Bucs have really turned it around in recent weeks, sadly too little too late I’d say. Winston is protecting the ball better, and that spells bad things for the Saints secondary, though he’s been a nice surprise as of late, I’d steer clear this week just to be safe.

S Harrison Smith – Vikings

Week 13 Opponent: Seattle Seahawks

It’s hard for me to put Smith here, but lately he has not been playing up to his potential. This season, he’s a 50/50 play each week, and with my season on the line I can’t trust that when there’s better options out there.

Good luck this week!
